The residency at EMS will be spent working on realizing the electronics for two upcoming works for solo percussion.
"Closing in on” is a multi-movement piece for prepared yangqin, objects and electronics, centered around a poem by the Shenzhen poet Ruan Xuefang. “Gone with the rainy season
雨季不再來”, a work for speaking percussionist and electronics with text from the writer/interdisciplinary artist Autumn Tsai, is connected to the life of the 20th century travel writer San Mao. Both pieces will be performed during the 2024 season by percussionists Allen Otte and Shiau-Shiuan Hung, respectively.
