Blood Music is the name of Simon Pomery’s project for examining the internal, through physical and psychological processes. His works for drums, percussion, guitars, strings and electronics have crossed genres such as post-punk, no wave, modern classical, techno, electrocoustic, text-sound composition, and free improvisation.

Pomery (IRE/UK) has presented sound works at venues and festivals across Europe and Japan, including Berlin Atonal, Les Urbaines, Elevate, Incubate, Supernormal, Wysing, Café Oto,
and Iklectik. He has released records on Diagonal (UK), Superpang (IT), dingn\dents (KR), The Tapeworm (UK), Takuroku (UK), Soup (JP), and his own label, Sonic Poetics (UK).
In London, he curated the PRAXIS series of text-sound performances (2015-2022).

In 2022, he completed his doctoral thesis, Sonic Poetics: Sound, Listening and Polyphony in the Work of M. NourbeSe Philip and Sean Bonney. His academic research is informed by Sound Studies in order to examine the role of the inner ear as a way to resist dominant cultures through innovative poetries in English.

He has published two books of poetry: FOUR PINTS OF GUINNESS FOR TONY CONRAD (FLUF, 2019, DK), and Popular Songs (Sonic Poetics, 2022, UK).

In 2023, Simon will be a Composer-in-Residence EMS, where he will use a halldorophone to work on a new piece of Blood Music.
