Wissam Sader is a self-taught, Lebanese-born sound artist who specializes in experimental music and sound art. His practice revolves around performances and sound installations where he acts as a mediator, creating a space for reflection and self-awareness that invites listeners to delve deep into their own minds. In his performances, he employs repetition, rhythm structures, and a diverse range of noise and tonal elements to challenge the conventional boundaries of the sonic spectrum, blurring the lines between natural and man-made sounds.
He often uses quadraphonic sound systems in his live performances, which allow for an altered perception of sound within the space, creating an immersive and captivating experience for listeners. He is also actively involved in the curation and promotion of experimental music and sound art through his co-curatorial role at Grüntaler, a mobile project that focuses on the production and promotion of experimental music and related practices.
His work has been presented in venues such as acud macht neu, arkaoda Berlin, Sophiensæle, Silent Green Kulturquartier, spektrum, KW Institute of Contemporary Art, and internationally, at Teatre de fusta, and at the Museu de Sant Boi de Llobregat in Barcelona. Additionally, he has been selected for several artist residencies, including Centro del silencio Valparaiso Chile (2024), Peripheral Unit of Chania | sougia in Crete (2022), Can Serrat International Art Residency in El Bruc, Spain (2021), EMS Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm, Sweden (2020), and Budějovickém Majálesu in the Czech Republic (2018).
