Elektronmusikstudion, EMS, has 6 studios, 3 of which have Macintosh Protools HD and 2 LE systems. Two of the studios have surround sound (8 or 6 channels). Studio 5 is used for recording and is connected to studio 1 (Pro Tools HD, surround) and studio 4 (Pro Tools LE, stereo).
To be able to use the studios you need to have attended an EMS course. Members of FST (Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare) automatically have access to the studios though an introduction to the studio you want to work in may be necessary. The same applies to guest composers. To work in the studios it is advisable to be familiar with the Pro Tools system.
