Hlynur is a composer based in Iceland. He studied composition, electronic music and software engineering in Reykjavik, with special interest in synthesis techniques, robotics and use of computer languages in relation to music. Now working at EMS in collaboration with ensemble Nordic Affect, using the Serge and Buchla modular systems.
Hlynur has also written acoustic music that has been performed widely by groups like Uusinta Chamber Orchestra, Brodsky String Quartett, Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Iceland Symphony Orchestra. He has also played with various pop bands and written music for film and theater.
An AIR-programme grant from Nordic Culture Point has made it possible for EMS to invite Hlynur to work at EMS in 2014.
